If your son's wedding is approaching and you're pondering what you will say at the rehearsal dinner, here's a sample to help get you started. Writing your remarks out ahead of time in case you lose your train of thought or forget someone's name is recommended.

Thank you for your attention for a moment.

Thea and I welcome the Masters and Denton families and friends. Thank you all for coming to share this happy occasion.

Thea and I and many of our family and friends have come to know and love Mara during the past two years or so. The better we got know her the more we liked her...and the more we hoped this day would come. So, we're very happy to welcome Mara as a member of our family tomorrow.

Our son, Pete, was indeed fortunate when he met Mara three years ago in Duluth. We've gotten to know Mara pretty well since then. And we're sure they are a good match for 사다리사이트 each other.

They're both kind and generous people. Their families are important to them. They are both bright and well-educated. And they both have solid values. And they appear to me to be very much in love. And they both are gainfully employed!

Thea and I very much appreciated the warm welcome from Leila and Porter and their many friends here in Dallas at Mara and Pete's engagement party last February. Our reservations about spending two days with people from George Bush country disappeared quickly once we were here. It was a most enjoyable occasion, and all the friends at the party made it clear to us what a fine family the Masters are.

Tomorrow Mara's family will grow bigger. She will then have 38 additional relatives.. Twenty-one of them are here tonight. I want to thank them all for joining Mara and Pete on this important occasion and introduce them to everyone.

But first I want to introduce Mara's family---

Her parents, Leila and Porter Masters

Her brother, Shane

And her uncles and aunts,

Martin and Robin Masters

Charles and Rosa Masters

And now Mara's new relatives

First, a new brother and sister

Edward and Samantha Denton

Eight aunts and uncles, all of whom are here

Sarah Lawrence

Gerald and Katherine Smithson

Nanette Denton Miller

Thomas and Darlene Denton

Sixteen new cousins

Morley Miller

Thomas Lawrence

Arlo Miller and his wife Sally

Molly Wilson Bingham and

Gloria Denton

Margo Lawrence Burton, and

Molly Denton

And, finally, 14 second cousins of whom three are here tonight

Angie Adams and her brother and sister-in-law

Bill Adams and his wife Josie.

Nearly all of these members of our family have already had the opportunity to meet Mara at least once and every one has expressed the feeling that we are fortunate to have her as the newest member of our family and that Pete is a very lucky man indeed.

Many of you have traveled a long way. We thank everyone for joining us on this solemn and happy occasion.

Let's all raise our glasses for a toast to the bride and the groom for a long and happy marriage.

Thank you.

Great father of the groom speech! I liked how you mentioned all of the family members that were in attendance. It makes everyone feel special and appreciated. Well done.

Thoroughly done. At events like this, when things get emotional and hectic, people get very sensitive if they are left out...and yes, write it ahead of time. got advice.

thanks for sharing, your speech was very tuned into the bride and how she is going to be a part of your family, there was no negative vibe which in so many other weddings i have been to, where the inlaws sometimes are not supportive of welcoming someone new into their family. congrads and bravo good hub

Very true, Ralph. My son was married recently, and of course we hosted the rehearsal dinner. I was all set to say a few words, but I choked up a little in tears; however, everyone who attended seemed to appreciate the toast to those two wonderful people. Your speech was wonderful!

My very best to you and your new family of in-laws. :)

That was a great speech. I'm sure it will be a tremendous help to a father of the groom.
