MOBILIZATION THERAPY IN CRITICALLY ILL PATIENTS WITH PRESSURE ULCERS: A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW

Abstract


Patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are more likely to develop pressure ulcers (PU) due to decreased mobility. Objective: To identify the effectiveness of bed mobilization, based on scientific evidence for the prevention and treatment of pressure ulcers in patients admitted to the environment of high complexity. Method: This is a computerized and manual literature review conducted in the following electronic databases: Medline, Lilacs and SciELO, about the theme in the period from 2007 to 2012. Results: It was found that the occurrence of PU are common mainly in the environment of high complexity, due to decreased mobility and restrictions in bed. Conclusion: There is still a need for scientific production directed primarily at the prevention of UP with respect to move in bed, for the strengthening of Evidence-Based Practices in the field of nursing.
