Guidelines for evidence-based practice on nursing prescription in the dysfunctional response to ventilatory weaning in ICU - Systematized Literature Review

Abstract


Abstract: The process of removing the patient from a mechanical ventilator is called weaning and consists of several steps. Objectives: To review the evidence-based guidelines that will assist the intensive care nurse in the identification and treatment of nursing care related to the dysfunctional ventilatory weaning response. Method: Systematic review of the literature of 10 scientific articles published between the years 2011 to 2017 in the LILACS, MEDLINE and SCIELO databases. Result: It is necessary to implement weaning protocols. Based on the findings of the defining characteristics for the weaning process, it is possible to indicate some contributions to the improvement of the protocol evaluations. Conclusion: A standardized method for systematic identification of patients under conditions of MV discontinuation may present several advantages over empirical weaning.
