Abstract

Abstract: to verify the nursing intervention for the patient of high complexity with diagnosis of sepsis, presenting glucose levels above normal. Objective: To review the evidence-based guidelines that will assist the intensivist nurse in the identification and treatment of nursing care management related to the management of hyperglycemia in patients with sepsis. Method: Manual and computerized bibliographic research in national and international journals, using the following databases: MEDLINE, through the interface of PubMed, LILACS and SCIELO . Research was still conducted at CIHAL, EMBASE through the CAPES journal portal. Scientific articles published in the period from 2011 to 2017, written in Portuguese, English and Spanish, were used as inclusion criteria. Studies that did not meet previously defined inclusion criteria were excluded from the study. Results: the nurse's main task is to perform an efficient management of hyperglycemia in the septic patient, avoiding the involvement of the injuries caused by hypoglycemia, aiming at positive results of the applied interventions. Conclusion: This study is an excellent opportunity to share knowledge about infusion therapy and the real management of hyperglycemia among nursing professionals.
